Exhibits Development Group celebrates Electric Playhouse Travels

Exhibits Development Group (EDG), a global leader in travelling exhibitions, presents Electric Playhouse Travels, created in collaboration with Electric Playhouse, a creative firm based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Thanks to EDG’s global expertise in the cultural community and its ability to produce extensive touring programmes, alongside Electric Playhouse’s unique technology and digital creativity, Electric Playhouse Travels had a successful debut at the Boston Museum of Science.

Electric Playhouse Travels is a “playhouse” that skillfully combines engaging exploratory activities, artistic interactives, and games. In contrast to conventional virtual reality setups, this experience uses sensors and cutting-edge projection mapping to track movements instead of headgear or other wearable technology.

Immersive exhibition

Electric Playhouse Travels is a tried-and-true crowd-pleaser that has been winning over audiences of all ages for more than five years. Because of the exhibition’s innovative use of technology and interaction, it has attracted large crowds and an engaged audience of repeat visitors.

Under the direction of Amy Noble Seitz, EDG, which is a women-owned and Minnesota-based company, has created hundreds of exhibitions and experiences. These include MythBusters the Explosive Exhibition, Beyond Rubik’s Cube, Treasures of Napoleon, Dressing the Abbey, and The International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes. Most recently, EDG and the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences unveiled a new $50 million art-science fund.

“As the pandemic is now in the rear-view mirror, our clients enjoy seeing projects like Electric Playhouse Travels come to fruition, filling visitors with joy and excitement,” says Jessica Grandbois, creative director at Exhibits Development Group. “This exhibition has proven to be a standout success at previous locations in Boston, Detroit, and Wichita. We invite potential host venues to follow Grand Rapids and Montreal in bringing this extraordinary experience to their communities in 2024 and beyond.”

Last week, Exhibits Development Group revealed details of six of its exhibitions which will be available to host venues during 2024. These include Pompeii: The Immortal City which will be the first major exhibition to be presented at the new Arlington Museum of Art, Texas, opening next year.
